Unibox Subscription Review

Unibox Subscription Review

Unibox is a subscription designed for the student. Packed with handy items, healthy snacks to keep you energised and a few little treats too, this box is sure to help soothe any homesickness or just general stress (even if you aren’t at uni!)

I was very excited to be sent one of the very first Uniboxes to exist! Ever! Yes, this subscription was just born this month. The Unibox subscription was designed to act as a care package for students (or people like me who just want a couple more treats and new products to try !). Their site states that they decided they wanted to create the package that they wished they had gotten when  they were students. It takes the decision making away from you – it can be difficult to consistently think of new things to send to help a student. These products have been tried and tested by the Unibox team so you can trust them to choose wisely for you.

You do the caring, and we do the rest. www.theunibox.com

If you’re just looking for important info like prices, you’ll find those at the bottom of this post!

What’s in the box?

Each month, the Unibox team will curate a box filled with new, exciting products. I cannot tell you what will be in the boxes but I can show you what has been included in the inaugural January 2017 Unibox!

I found this box incredibly exciting to open! Yes, I love my beauty boxes, but it was so refreshing to get to try some new snacks and treats! I’ll pop the product names in bold in case you wanna skim read for what’s in the box.

The biggest item in the box is the Teapigs Popcorn Tea. Now, I am an Earl Grey fanatic and don’t often stray to the herbal range unless it’s peppermint. This one sounded a bit whacky to me initially, but it’s only got Green Tea and toasted rice in it. I’m definitely excited to give this one a go, hot or iced as suggested! Also, Teapigs are a great brand I feel I can trust.

I was very excited to see some protein shakes in here. I’m no fitness guru, but anything healthy, easy and yummy is okay with me. There are two Purition wholefood protein shakes included in this box. I’m always a little intimidated by protein or fitness products, as many contain ingredients you’ve never heard of. Purition shakes are made from wholefood ingredients which support healthy eating.

The only think not to my taste in this box are the Spare Fruit Apple crisps. I’m sure loads of other people like Apple Crisps though, so if you don’t, give them to a friend!

Unibox have made their very own little blue Card holder which is super handy if you just wanna keep ones or two cards in your pocket. I didn’t realise until after I’d rummaged through everything a few times that the card inside isn’t just an example card! It is a £20 Teech Giftcard. Teech is basically an app where you pay to subscribe which gives you access to Teechers who can help explain things to you and answer Uni questions! 24/7.

An exciting addition to this box are the Voost Calcium + Vitamin C Effervescent tablets. I haven’t tried these yet, but they sound pretty similar to Berocca. A vitamin supplement is always a good addition to anybody’s life, but especially a possibly under-nourished students!

Some dormitories and student accommodations don’t allow naked flames. No candles! Some may break the rules, but this BubbleOff! Room Spray easily adds a refreshing smell to any room. I’m sure it could mask a few unpleasant smells too if necessary! It comes in Tonka Bean and Lime scent which smells a bit like a warm vanilla candle but with Lime, adding a bit of freshness. I really like this spray, and it isn’t something I would think to buy myself. Bubbleoff make Vegan Skincare and bath treats which are all handmade!

Let’s face it, the item I’m most excited about is the nomnom Proper Welsh Chocolate (Honeycomb). A little touch which I loved is that it doesn’t have a Use By or Best Before date, it has a Demolish By date! How great is that! This bar will definitely be demolished well before that date…

Unibox also includes a great wee magazine of their own making in the box which gives University advice, budget recipes and instructions on how to make your empty Unibox into a Projector!

Who is it for?

As you can tell, the Unibox itself is aimed at students. This box can also be for the parents, friends or siblings of said students. It makes it easy to treat the student in their life – monthly if they wish!

How does it work?

You simply subscribe via their online shop, and the box will be sent out on a set date each month. There are different subscription plans to choose from, and you can cancel at any time. You don’t have to choose what goes into it or when it goes, that’s all done for you.

How much does it cost?

There are currently 3 different Unibox subscription plans to choose from:

  • Monthly Subscription £24.99/box
  • 3 months Pre-pay £23.98/box
  • 6 months Pre-pay £22.50/box

As with any subscription, you will have to let them know if you want to cancel or it will just roll on.

Let me know if you subscribe to Unibox, and make sure to share a photo of your box using #GotMyUniBox for the chance to receive an extra surprise in your next box!
