Love Me Beauty subscription review: July 2016

Love Me Beauty subscription review: July 2016

Another month of Love Me Beauty and a completely different set of products! Some really great products here, some I will probably buy again.

Apologies for this only coming at the end of the month, but the combination of a delivery problem (my fault, not LMB’s) and me being super busy has meant I haven’t had time to write anything until now!

This was my second month of subscription to Love Me Beauty, and it was just as exciting as the first!

If you are wondering how the subscription works and costs etc. then please read my post ‘Love Me Beauty: How it Works‘. It only costs you £10+£3.95P&P/month, and it’s easy to cancel at any time if you only apply for one month so you aren’t tied down. Alternatively there are options to save you a bit of money and get more stuff if you apply for one of their memberships (3-month, 6-month or 12-month).

This month I chose products from two brands: Caudalie and Pixi. I received it in a pale blue makeup bag this time, which is so handy, pretty, sturdy, and holds loads of stuff! It is incredibly exciting receiving all this stuff, even though I have hand-picked it. So far I have been impressed by the quality of all the products I’ve received, and this month’s bag was no exception. Below is everything I chose this month.

These products are absolutely beautiful. Caudalie favours natural and environmentally friendly ingredients, has no animal ingredients, sulphates, paraffin, artificial colourings and are against testing on animals. In other words, it is an ethical company that’s against waste and harming the planet – so you don’t have to feel guilty using any of their products!

This month, I chose three products from Caudalie. From left to right in the photo: Glycolic Peel, Moisturizing Sorbet, Divine Oil. I used all three products in one night to destress and treat myself, and I will tell you about them in the order that I used them!

Glycolic Peel

This mask is aimed at people who want to give their face a radiance boost, and as I’ve had the busiest last couple of weeks, a little more radiance would be gratefully received! I washed my face with warm water and let it dry completely before applying this mask. It smells kind of…plant-y? Not in a bad way, it smells nice and fresh and natural but not floral. It smells like I imagine the colour green would smell. That’s probably an awful description but I can’t think how else to describe it!

It comes out as a white cream, and it spreads well, so you don’t need all that much. The tester I received is 25ml, I’ve only used it once so far and it feels like there is about 3 uses left. It’s advised that you only use this twice a week, so that’s 2 weeks worth – a good amount to see if you want to re-purchase.

It felt a little stingy at first when I had it on, but nothing I was going to worry about. When I washed it off it came off milky and my skin felt squeaky clean!

Moisturizing Sorbet

After using the mask, I applied this and it felt so nice and cool! It spreads very well too and feels extremely light on the skin. It was very refreshing but I’m not sure yet if it has made much difference to my dry patches really as it is so light.

If you want a light moisturizer that is refreshing and isn’t at all tacky, then this is a great choice.

Divine Oil

Now, I’ve developed some dry patches on my nose and my lower cheek, and I felt these areas needed some more penetrating moisturizing than the sorbet could offer. This oil is so luxurious, you only need a tiny bit and it smells so divine.

I applied a little to the dry patches on my face and then rubbed some more over my neck as I always seem to forget to moisturize there. I rubbed the rest around my fingernails to keep my cuticles moisturized. It is quite strongly scented, so you might not like it if you don’t like the smell…but in my opinion it smells lovely and is kind of relaxing, perfect for treating yourself and winding down before bed. Also, you only need a tiny bit of oil, so this little bottle should last me quite a while!

Pixi by Petra is a brand which aims to giving you multi-use products which save you time and make you look rejuvenated and naturally radiant. Petra has over 20 years experience as a makeup artist and product developer, so I feel you can trust her products!

From left to right: Correction Concentrate, Glow Tonic, Lengthy Fiber Mascara.

Correction Concentrate

This stuff is AMAZING. I use it every day as it is the only concealer I have found which almost completely hides my dark circles. It is very thick so had full coverage, and the peachy tone is perfect for correcting darkness. It is too peachy to cover blemishes, but I wouldn’t want to waste it on that as it is my go-to for under my eyes.

It has only creased a couple of times for me, and those were times I either didn’t blend it in properly and left too much sitting there, or I didn’t set it with a little powder. It doesn’t sit very well on my skin if it isn’t set with powder, probably because it is so pasty and wont dry properly if it’s not set.

Glow Tonic

This is an exfoliating toner which smells similar to the Caudalie Glycolic peel mask. You apply it using cotton wool after washing your face and before moisturizing. I don’t find this spectacular to be honest. I will use it because it is nice, but I don’t think it’s a re-purchase for me.

It also get’s used up pretty quickly, I have used it twice and half the bottle is gone. If you use it morning and night – as suggested – that’s only two days worth of product. i know it’s a tester, but I don’t think 2 days is really enough time to decide whether or not you want to add something to your routine.

Lengthy Fiber Mascara

I’m on the fence about this one. It does add a little more length to my natural lashes, but not much, and I have to add a lot of my favourite Lash Sensational mascara to build any volume. You can see that there are a lot of fibers on the brush though, so if you keep going and manage to keep it from being clumpy, you can get some good length.

I also had the problem that each time I used it I felt like I had something in one eye for a couple of hours. I applied it very carefully as I was afraid this might happen, yet each time I used it it felt like there was a fiber in my eye somewhere.

This mascara does give a little extra length while looking natural, so despite the downsides, I would still recommend giving it a go!

Another month of great products, I feel like my skin has been thoroughly treated! For the £10 I spent (okay maybe I bought a £5 add-on as I wanted to try so many products) I am very happy with the result! some pampering skincare in great sizes for travelling, and a concealer that trumps all others I have tried for concealing under-eye circles! Result!

Have you thought about trying this subscription or any of the products I’ve mentioned?
